I think I figured out what Putin is really afraid of. He has been grifting from Russia for decades

probably the most corrupt leader Russia ever had. He's not really worried about Ukraine or NATO, he's worried about getting the boot, losing power. You can bet the farm that if he is removed from office he will end up in prison or worse. I have a feeling that Russia, unlike some countries, will actually punishes their corrupt leaders if given the opportunity. Other heads would roll also because like the GOP here supporting tRump, Putin has his corrupt supporters also that will have to be dealt with.

Ex KGB Putin's other pain is an old wound that never healed for him, the breakup of the Soviet Union, something that he wants back.
