First of all, Republicans are on the defensive.

Democrats need to understand their position.

It is they that attacked our Capitol. It is they that have to lie and cover-up about their roles on January 6th.

It is they that have to explain their plots and conspiracies. It is they that tried to over-turn an election.

It is they that want to forget about January 6th and move on. It is they that are attacking Joe Biden and the Democrats, in hopes people will not notice their horrendous crimes.

It is they that are trying to whitewash and sweep under the rug their involvement and actions in regards to their seditious behavior.

It is they that pretend they have nothing to worry about.

They are on the defensive and they are scared to death that the voters will wake up and see the truth. And they will be thrown out of office in disgrace.

That is what they are afraid of.

Democrats should understand their position of strength.

Good grief, this should be on EVERY Democrat’s lips, AND writings, AND postings, and on cue cards and handy index cards that can be kept in the pocket for easy reach and quick usage.

And this message needs to be REPEATED. RELENTLESSLY. And WAY long after we think we’re sick of it.

An absolute MUST. Our Republican “friends” have been hellbent for DECADES on making sure that many American ears are CLOGGED with wax, dirt, used Qtip shreds, and GOP bullshit. So that’s a helluva lot to cut through so the public can hear clearly.

We have to clear the fog of their attempts at war-making. It’s hard. But we have to keep at it so the truth can break through.

This time Dems can be on the offensive using Republicans' own words against them. You can see how they're reacting. McCarthy was speed-walking through Congress today in a lame attempt to avoid reporters and their damnable questions. LOL. When he did answer it was a word salad.

January 6th is the last thing Republicans want to confront and the RNC whacked a beautiful gift into our court.

We'd be idiots not to play it. Again and again and again.

Let them squirm and sputter.

I love flop-sweat!

I think it would be safe to say that the Republicans are reeling right now. They have no discernible platform and the only thing they have going for them is the braying of Fox News, Steve Bannon, Joe Rogan et al.

They continue to make a lot of noise but they are in a very very weak position right now. The DNC and other organizations need to be doing a lot of ads that drop the guilt for January 6 on top of their heads every time they have a chance.

I believe that there are far fewer that agree with any of the Republican garbage than you would think from listening to any news source.

The Democrats need to just beat and beat and beat them with this. They are traitors to the nation whether what they are doing actually constitutes treason in the purely legal sense – – it is treason nonetheless. republicans are against everything that the founding fathers were for. They have become a fascist anti-democracy party.

But, there are a lot of dumb, uninformed people out there that don’t understand what is going on and will probably still vote for these losers if they are not educated.

Let’s educate them where we can.

And adhere to the principle that no one is above it.

I often hear the phrase "it's okay if you're a Republican" when discussing these things, but that to me is the most defeatist statement on DU, as if they are magically able to subvert our laws and we cannot.

When they grilled Hillary over nothing, she wasn't incarcerated because she hadn't broken any laws. The hearings were a spectacle designed to bring her down politically. In a sense, they were successful, but that was a political calculation, a dirty one at that, but not a legal one.

Trump and his cohorts have openly and defiantly transgressed our laws and there is copious evidence of multiple crimes. We can see the evidence with our own eyes; it's not a secret. The Committee's investigation is a legal one, not a political spectacle like Benghazi. It aims, not to embarrass or diminish the Republicans, but rather to get to the truth regarding the law and the seditionists who broke it. The net effect should and will inflict political damage to Republicans, not because they're Republicans, but because they're crooks. Their disregard for our laws and institutions will be laid out for the whole world to see.

So yes, Democrats do happen to be in a position of strength under these circumstances, but not just politically. We have the law on our side as Americans, and as long as that still means something, we will share a victory with the Constitution.

Tue Feb 8, 2022, 06:15 PM
Feb 2022

reflecting the larger, global battle that the top 1% wages against the bottom 99%...that started decades ago. They are just using the gop brand (which really doesn't exist the same way it used to) to manipulate people who will listen. Their leaders have hollowed out party principles out of necessity, which makes them all the more dangerous....willing to take foreign money to fund elections, willing to toss traditional principles, to sacrifice personal dignity, to break laws, to lie, to run up the debt, to blackmail countries into finding dirt on political opponents, to foment hate and polarization, to toss aside teachings of their religion, and willing to defend authoritarian murderers around the world. They have nothing holding them back from committing heinous acts...and they have slowly gotten used to it. They. Don't. Care. And they found a perfect orange poster boy for what they really believe in.

The everyday, regular republican may think they are still pursuing policies of the old gop but they have been fooled. The leadership has moved on to more nefarious goals.

I'm not sure the gop position is one of defense as much as it is amoral, sociopathic, determined, unpatriotic...and they have big plans for what can be done offensively with those tools, furthering concentration of wealth and power into the hands of fewer and fewer autocrats.
