agency, why or what officer.
Last Thursday an array of law enforcement used an aggressive felony road stop tactic in Madison Wisconsin. Entrapping Mr Wilsons car between two other vehicles. In the process of securing Wilson, who was unarmed, somebody shot him 5 times in the back. He survived the gunshot wounds.
No officer has been identified as the shooter. No agency has been identified as having shot him. No reason has been given for the use of such an aggressive stop tactic.
News agencies can get no answers for what occurred and authorities are not saying anything, period.
Ya gotta kinda wonder just what the heck is going on here. Why is there so much secrecy around this and why, again, is an unarmed black man shot in the back (or any place else) while, apparently, trying to comply with law enforcement?
I cant begin to understand what it must be like to be black, surrounded by law enforcement and not knowing if you will draw another breath.
Cant wait to see what form the cover up will take. There is no reasonable reason for this much time to pass without some sort of explanation. Is he a terrorist? Bank robber? Kidnapper? Drug dealer? Or just black and very scary.
5 (five) gunshots in the back. Must be a really compelling reason
right?

... Tuesdays statement was .. the first one to include that federal agents were involved in the effort to arrest Wilson. However, it did not say which agency or agencies were involved, or to what extent. Prior statements by the Sheriffs Office indicated only state and local law enforcement were there. In statements of its own, the Madison Police Dept. confirmed three of its officers were there in support roles and that they had been there to assist agents with the state Dept. of Justices Division of Criminal Investigation.
The Sheriffs Office reiterated that its deputies were not on hand at the time of the shooting ...

... On Monday, Madison Police Department Chief Shon Barnes released a statement clarifying his officers' involvement at the scene of American Parkway and East Park Boulevard. Barnes said his officers were assigned to maintain the outer perimeter and that assisting outside agencies during larger operations is not uncommon.
Authorities stated several law enforcement agencies were working collaboratively to arrest Quadren Wilson, 38, of Beaver Dam when shots were fired. Wilson was hospitalized, but has since been released and is now being held in the Dane County Jail ...
"No Madison officers fired their weapons. Nor did they witness the shooting," Barnes said. "All three helped provide aid and secured the scene until investigators with the Dane County Sheriffs Office arrived. Our department respects the investigative process that is being led by the Dane County Sheriffs Office."
Tuesday, the Dane County Sheriff's Office, which is the lead investigating agency, released an update also stating its officers were not involved in the incident ...

... Chief Shon Barnes explained that three MPD officers helped maintain the perimeter at the carpark on the citys east side on Thursday while agents with the state Dept. of Justices Division of Criminal Investigation attempted to arrest the suspect, who has been identified by his lawyer as Quadren Wilson.
Barnes statement noted that it is not uncommon for MPD officers to aid outside agencies in their efforts. After the shooting, the officers assisted in securing the scene, near the intersection of American Parkway and East Park Blvd., until members of the Dane Co. Sheriffs Office arrived ...

(118,278 posts)further details. Court records show several cases against Wilson, but only two are currently open. When the shooting happened, Wilson was on extended supervision for three felonies he pleaded guilty to in 2017 and wearing a GPS monitoring device. Eisenberg argues because DCI can track Wilsons movement, and because Wilson had a parole meeting scheduled for the day after the shooting took place, a public and violent arrest was unnecessary"

... The incident occurred when Wilson was sitting at a stoplight and an SUV in front of him moved in reverse. To prevent a collision, Wilson also shifted his car into reverse and tried to avoid being hit. During all this, another SUV behind him pulled forward, smashing his car.
Undercover officers then jumped out of the two SUVs and proceeded to smash the windows of Wilsons car. The officers demanded Wilson to put his hands up in the air and then fired multiple gunshots at him, according to Wilsons mother in the WSJ article. Local authorities are in the process of investigating the shooting, and it is unclear whose weapon was fired.
Wilson underwent surgery Saturday morning, but has not been able to see his family since the incident, according to Wisconsin State Journal. In a Facebook post Monday evening, Wilsons aunt Sharon Irwin shared he was out of surgery and had been sent to the Dane County Jail. Officers fired 20 rounds at Wilsons car, at least five of which went into his back, according to Irwin.
Wilson has an open disorderly conduct case and several other criminal convictions that he has served sentences for and was wanted on a state Department of Corrections warrant ...
