Just watched Jake Tapper promoting a book "Red Carpet"

and they criticized Hollywood for being too influenced by China; (rightfully so, no objections here) because their market is so large and there's lots of money to be made.

They cited three movies Top Gun, Red Dawn and Seven Years in Tibet that had major alterations to language, flags, nationality etc. so as not to offend China and lose corporate profits.

Whether intended or not, the piece kind of alluded to the dangers of too much conglomeration, we all become more vulnerable.

What the short piece missed and for that matter CNN for too long (in their lack of coverage) is the obvious irony of the same mercenary dynamic taking place here at home on too many fronts, not just Hollywood.
