Rep. Hal Rogers (R-Ky.) apologized Tuesday evening to Rep. Joyce Beatty (D-Ohio), the chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, for telling her to "kiss my a--" after she asked him to wear a face mask, CNN reported.
What they're saying: My words were not acceptable, Rogers told CNN.
Driving the news: The incident occurred after Beatty asked Rogers to put on a face mask as the two were boarding a train on the Capitol subway system, Beatty wrote in a Twitter thread.
"He then poked my back, demanding I get on the train. When I asked him not to touch me, he responded, 'kiss my a--,'" she recounted.

Probably why this tool made a public apology.
Might figure his sorry will dissuade her of demanding justice for a criminal.

(10,599 posts)I sincerely doubt she'll press charges. In fact, I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that she won't.
Perhaps she should, but that's not how things work in D.C. He could have shoved her and said to "Fuck Off," and it wouldn't matter.

Playing nice never works. Take the gloves off and start wailing away.

(10,599 posts)I wonder if it had been a Male Congressman, he would have acted the same. I'm guessing no.
Honestly though, there's absolutely Zero doubt he's a Piece O' Shit, but I'm not sure a poke in the back and derogatory comment would be enough to warrant any charges that would stick. He should be held accountable by Congress, but we all know that's not gonna happen either.

I'm finding that people I used to think were basically decent people just....aren't.
I remember when I believed that most everyone was basically a decent person. I've been forcefully taught in the last few years that just isn't true.

(12,176 posts)Total lack of self control, respect, and plain ol common sense, to keep his paws to himself. He says his words weren't acceptable, neither was poking her in the back! Mr. Roger's needs to keep his filthy mouth shut and hands to himself. 🤨
