(27,835 posts)Whatever Putin wanted from him, Trump no longer has the power to give him.
Vlad wanted Trump to deny that Russia interfered in the 2016 election, which he did.
Vlad wanted Trump to get him back into the G7, which he failed to do.
Trump was just a useful idiot for Putin to manipulate, probably with promises of a Trump Tower in Moscow - except that Putin could build ten towers in Moscow if he wanted to, and has never needed Trump's money or 'name' to do so.
This idea that Putin has any real relationship with Trump has always been laughable. It was always an arrangement of convenience for Putin, who recognized an easily-manipulated asshole when he saw one.
The irony is that both men end relationships once they're no longer productive - and as far as Putin is concerned, Trump stopped being 'productive' the minute he walked out of the WH.

(17,757 posts)Putin considers Trump to be a valuable asset, if for no other reason, Trump is so destructive to the fabric of our Nation. A grateful Trump, returned to the White House would be a great bargain at a billion bucks.
True Blue American
(18,579 posts)That is no longer true. Putin considered the US weak after Trump. He found out that is no longer True.
According to the MSM now Biden is an expert on the Cold War. Putin misjudged him and Biden now has Putin boxed in. What happened here?
Yesterday Biden was weak, today he is an absolute mastermind. Ukraine was never close to joining NATO! Putin badly miscalculated. Biden who has pulled all the countries together, handled Germany.
Even the major papers are reporting this.

(17,757 posts)Trump, either willingly or unwittingly, has been, and still is, a great asset to any world player who wants to see harm to our nation. Trump has caused the greatest danger to our nation since the Civil War.
I believe that Putin would support him for the same reason we supported the Soviet Union during WWII; The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

(59,522 posts)Those who follow him are swayed by tweets.
A new Cambridge Analytica effort, a new warehouse with 100 tweeter trolls fluffing for him and spreading disinformation about Joe and the Democrats, and all of them would rush back to his side.

(6,486 posts)I wonder what brilliant military planner saw the USSR winning in that scenario.
The USA deserves a measure of trust for not nuking the Soviets. How would Europe & the world look today if the Soviets got the bomb first?

(3,334 posts)I Don't think it would have gone over big with the rest of the world if we invaded the Soviet Union and nuked it.

(18,579 posts)Putin miscalculated what Biden would do. He does not want a war. Bully is Putins middle name. He made a mistake with Biden, who is an old pro on cold wars.

(3,334 posts)They will not vote to allow Ukraine to join NATO and either Germany or France or both will sign a treaty that Ukraine will not be allowed to join NATO. They know that Russia and Belarus will not allow NATO to have a 3,322-mile border with them. Ukraine must become a buffer.
True Blue American
(18,579 posts)To joking NATO! That was made up by Putin to start his threat. Biden faced him down.
Now, the Press is giving Biden high marks in how he is handling Foreign Affairs.

(17,802 posts)Putin has many goals. Some strategic, some tactical.
But one of his greatest goals is to destabilize and topple anti-russian democracies. TFG still has power here.
The trucker trouble in canada should give you some idea of where this can go. With enough stoking, the rabid right could attempt to cut select cities, and then select states, off from the routine flow of goods and food that comes from other areas. Few states are self sufficient and no cities are.
Can you imagine the tear in americas fabric if truckers decide to even attempt to emabargo a major city? What if major conglomerates decide to not cross the lines? Maybe a purdue for chicken, or another for pork or beef, others for fresh produce? No fuel deliveries? No refrigerated foods?
This would delight russia. And with a gop potus, even a desantos or cruz, how would the national guard react?
tfg could help stoke that. He is still valuable because he can keep what few sane and reasonable voices there are in the gop from ever being heard again.
That is why putin will find ways to support him. Overthrowing a powerful enemy by force is dangerous and he might not personally survive. Corrupting one to the breaking point is turning out to be ridiculously cheap and risk free.

If you have equity in your home (your home is worth more than you owe on it) the homestead exemption can allow you to keep the home if you file for Chapter 7 bankruptcy, and may come into play under Chapter 13 bankruptcy as well.Mar 22, 2016

Of course, it could still take a decade to wind it's way through courts and the state could meddle in any settlement.
Doesn't mean he will be under a bridge next week. He will die of old age before he has to move.

(32,335 posts)Trump is a Narcissist and he cannot admit to himself that he lost. Trump needs to keep the Big Lie going, he can't help himself. McConnell wants to move on from the Big Lie, move on from the 1/6 insurrection, wants to make the election about president Biden, but Trump keeps pouring gas on the fire while McConnell's shoes are on smoke trying to put out the fire.
Democrats, I hope, #1 campaign message should be, voters have a choice, democracy or autocracy. Voters you need to choose, do you want to keep our democracy or do you want to end it.
Keep it simple Democrats and repeat this message often because the MSM isn't going to help with messaging.

(76,706 posts)The company did collect about a billion in first offering for big investors.
Right now though, it's dead cash.
There are no assets, no operations, etc.
Once (and if) it gets up & running, a good part of that cash will be sunk. The return will be low for a while, burning more of it.
Then, those investors expect a return.
It's not quite the cash flow bonanza some have advertised.
