&ab_channel=NBCNewsOnly one cop lost his job over this. Just think about it. This is how they treat our military for NO crime. They had nothing. Police in America have NO authority over citizens until a law is broken. Police are not our overseers. They cannot order us around unless we let them.

(16,076 posts)I have a feeling that the new AG is going to drop the lawsuit against this town.

(17,862 posts)which actually makes the man and the cop safer is justification for a felony stop? Also once under the lights the dealer tag was clearly visible. The first cop was just as bad as the second who was fired.
Cops need to have a much better reason for pointing guns at civilians than this clown did. In fact once an innocent has a gun pointed at him/her how can anyone expect them to act rationally once the fear response is triggered?

(4,898 posts)The video was not made public until five months later, and the following day the cop who pepper sprayed the Army officer (Lt. Caron Nazario) was fired from his position. Our previous AG Mark Herring filed a lawsuit against the town as an independent investigation found issues with pattern and practice in the police force. Lt. Nazario has filed a civil lawsuit against the town, the police department, and the two officers involved. The civil trial was scheduled to start in March the last I heard.
As an earlier comment mentioned, I'm expecting the tRump clone we now have as AG now to drop the lawsuit filed by former AG Herring at some point (say a Friday afternoon before a major holiday or event) to try and slip it under the public eye.

(4,552 posts)I post this stuff because we need to remember how the country we live in operates and who the police represent.
Push back by American citizens is changing policing in America. We have more work to do. But we must remember why we do this.
