I get Facebook notices all the time of my friends having their accounts hacked, and telling their contacts to disregard any friend request they might receive. It always seemed pointless to me: I don't do anything all that confidential on Facebook (Yes, I know: Delete Facebook. Thank you for your concern.), what would someone have to gain from spoofing someone's page? This answers that question.

5. It didn't surprise me that an acct is hacked, but was shocked as to the dark & devious side of it.

Someone in the top tier is approving & allowing it to take place.
We've all been aware of foreign bots & troll farms, but man, to know how sociopathic this particular hack example was, just tells us the degree of manipulation with not a boundary in place.
Zuckerberg & the media scheme of Peter Thiel & his Silicon Valley elite team operate beyond the laws of reasonability the rest of us live by.
