Can you out do these replies?
tbh its kind of impressive how he turns a flat frozen surface into a slipper slope. maybe hudson should bid for the winter games.
Nothing says "I'm horney" like a tiny shack built over a hole in the ice!
He seems to have a very intimate, highly confident, and almost a seemingly insider knowledge about how ice fishing shanties and prostitution are connected...
It implies that one hole leads to another.
Man, I hope they're paid extra if they're doing sex work on frozen lakes.
I definitely need to start ice fishing.
All these years of wondering why so many enjoy ice fishing. Now I know .
Just when I was going to sell my shanty!
How did they hold back the laughter?
The ice fishing to prostitution pipeline is reel.
Ahh, so that's how they lure them in
My wife ICE fishes im so naïve I thought it was just a hobby?
I put a shed in my backyard!I better go give it a check.

(19,195 posts)I'm going to go into the ice shanty manufacturing business, because I forsee a huge market arising soon, among other things.
How that guy's mind went from "ice shanty" directly to "prostitution" is slightly suspect. I'd like to know if he'd ever been ice fishing in his life, first off.

(65,000 posts)I'm no fisherman. I don't have that kind of relaxed patience to fish.
But, I used to visit a manufacturing site north of Toronto. (Maybe 100 miles).
The place was on the outskirts of a resort town with a couple of connected lakes. (Pretty big ones.)
In the winter, the town was mostly dead, but ice fishers would use the lakes.
There'd be several dozen of these little sheds out of the ice. (8'x10' I'd guess.). They're insulated, with a heater, cots & a cooking stove.
Sometimes, I'd see one with a little Honda generator running for lights & TV.
I couldn't do it either, but it's not because of the cold.
I NEVER saw anyone ice fishing outside one of those sheds, and I was probably there 20 times during the winters.

(18,122 posts)I even saw an ice fishing jamboree where they built a big bonfire out on the ice. Didn't seem exactly safe to me, but they were driving their big SUVs and pickup trucks right up to it.

(65,000 posts)...there's no way we're ever doing it.
But, those people jump through every hoop to not be cold.
I think it's mostly a big drinking party with nowhere to drive!

I just don't want to be out on the ice.

(14,720 posts)and actually found a few descriptive passages of people having heard of it. But alas, no actual newspaper accounts or police reports.
I found a reference to an article about an incident on Mille Lacs Lake, entitled Worlds Oldest Profession is moving to the Ice, from 1988 but couldn't locate it.
But nothing surprises me any more regardless. Where there are men, liquor, and time - there will be prostitutes.
