Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX) says Nancy Pelosi is using Capitol Police officers disguised as construction workers to investigate his office.

People who worry about the cops investigating them do so because they may have broken the law. Nehls was one of the 147 House Republicans who voted against certifying the election.

Nancy Pelosi isn’t directing an undercover police unit to go after House Republicans, and if Rep. Nehls thinks that he is under investigation, it makes one wonder what role he potentially played in Donald Trump’s attempted coup to overturn the 2020 election.

3. I don't necessarily agree with the first sentence of the second paragraph.

It sounds just like “if you’ve done nothing wrong, you shouldn’t mind the police harassing you or the government monitoring you”. Fuck that.

Now, this guy is obviously a jackass conspiracy theorist but we should never be behind the idea that it’s ok to have your privacy invaded. Have proof or legitimate probable cause before you go snooping around.

Yes, we do not need police harassing anybody and government monitoring must follow similar strict guidelines.

But at the same time, a key point is that even for a conspiracy theorist, it would only come to mind that some arm of the government might be monitoring them if they were conscious of some wrongdoing they had done. Most conspiracy theorists have done nothing wrong and though they think the gubmnt is monitoring lots of people, they don't particularly think they are the target of some investigation.

Plus the somewhat bizarre nature of the accusation, "construction workers", is an indication he is feeling pressure for something he has done that he may regret. When people are frightened they can become paranoid and search for validation of their fears and see construction workers. Bingo.

Nehls thinks (apparently without evidence) that he's being investigated. That kind of paranoia typically comes from a guilty mind.

Troy Nehls is a racist asshole who is also my congresscritter. This asshole helped get my district gerrymandered so that it went from a TFG +1 to a TFG +22% district. I worked on Sri Kulkarni's campaign in 2020 and was disappointed when Nehls won.

This asshole is up to something and is worried. This started out as a local Texas story but now it has hit the Washington Post

U.S. Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger said Tuesday that an officer conducted a security check of a Capitol Hill office that was left open, rejecting a GOP congressman’s claim that police were involved in an illegal probe last November.

In a Twitter thread Tuesday, Rep. Troy E. Nehls (R-Tex.) claimed without evidence that “The @CapitolPolice Intelligence Division investigated my office illegally and one of my staffers caught them in the act.”

Nehls accused Capitol Police leadership after one of the officers entered his office in the Longworth House Office Building with no prior notice Nov. 20, 2021, ahead of the Thanksgiving break, and took pictures of a whiteboard. The officer filed a report raising concerns about the contents of the whiteboard, which included mentions of “body armor” and a poorly drawn map of the Rayburn House Office Building — which is also part of the Capitol complex — that had an X at one of the building’s entrances......

In the police report, the Capitol officer who entered Nehls’s office said that he found the door “wide open with no one in the area” and that he noticed a whiteboard “with suspicious writings mentioning body armor with an outline of the Rayburn Building next to the Longworth building with an 'x' marked at the C street entrance of the Rayburn.” The report says the officer locked the office’s door but does not mention that the officer took a picture of the office.

I was shocked when Kevin McCarthy named Nehls to the Jan. 6 commission and was happy when Nehls dropped out after Gym Jordan and that Banks idiot were rejected by Speaker Pelosi. Now Nehls is bringing in Ashli Babbitt.
