Brutally flawed journalism. But once again, instead of focusing on Trump's failed approach to governing, we're getting sidetracked on "journalistic ethics".

followed with years of continued enabling.

it is entirely appropriate to call out failed journalistic ethics (to put it nicely) while pursuing justice for the damage done to our democracy. because the faults and responsibilities lay in both parties.

If the media had reported on what the PNAC said & did in the 1990s & 2000, far fewer people would have fallen for their WMD lies, enough that the war might have been prevented.

The media also facilitated the 2004 election theft in Ohio, where 2 members of the IT team had agreed to testify how they crashed OH election servers & diverted the count to backup servers they controlled so the vote counts could be altered, giving the state to Bush. Both of them were mysteriously killed before they could testify, & the media ignored it all.

for years Trump has had an ongoing feud with the NYT and, yet, there were pics of ol' Maggie yucking it up with the orange cretin in the Oval Office

top media like the NYT, AP, CNN, MSNBC in order to help elect Republicans and defeat Democrats.

After she did that, she covered the tRump administration and shared the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the connections between tRump advisors and Russia. The very same connections the NYT buried amap pre-election behind coverage of "Hillary's emails" etc.

This reminds me that in 2014 she'd shared another award for this classic hit piece in Politico, with its textbook beginning:

What Is Hillary Clinton Afraid Of?

Over the 25 years Hillary Clinton has spent in the national spotlight, she’s been smeared and stereotyped, the subject of dozens of over-hyped or downright fictional stories and books alleging, among other things, that she is a lesbian, a Black Widow killer who offed Vincent Foster then led an unprecedented coverup, a pathological liar, a real estate swindler, a Commie, a harridan. Every aspect of her personal life has been ransacked; there’s no part of her 5-foot-7-inch body that hasn’t come under microscopic scrutiny, from her ankles to her neckline to her myopic blue eyes—not to mention the ever-changing parade of hairstyles that friends say reflects creative restlessness and enemies read as a symbol of somebody who doesn’t stand for anything.

Forget all that troubled history, and a Clinton run for president in 2016 seems like a no-brainer,...

(Might as well laugh.)

Of course, no one's allowed to "forget" her "troubled history" as a murderous lesbian commie swindler as the knives keep stabbing through this award-winning article.

In those days the RW powers didn't allow 2 weeks to go by without pinning her face up before the nation in order to smear it. They were afraid of her. And they put some of their best people on it.

Something for us all to keep in mind over the next 2 years. They're always afraid of Democrats.

I realize that Maggie Haberman is a Trump normalizing hack but what interests me is her pronouncement that Trump plans to run again only IF the investigations progress. So is this like some sort of blackmail like... "fuck with me and I'll give you 4 more years of the worst fucking president you've ever seen"? Or is it desperation, like aides realize the only way the scumbag stays out of jail is if he somehow becomes president and they start arguing again whether any illegal shit he does can even be questioned? I'm assuming some combination of both, but who cares about Maggie Haberman here how fucked is it that they will openly say "yeah if you ignore all his crimes, then he won't run, he never was that interested in it anyway"???

earlier this morning when I stumbled on the post here with her interview on CNN, my immediate reaction was why the hell didn't she report this out at the time?

It's not the first time... we've seen this with Woodward over and over again and many others over the years. And Maggie Habeman has her own effed up entitled track record.

But damn! Do any of these cretins have a shred of fealty to our democracy, for which they could not possibly thrive at all?

What about the employers?

Unless I misunderstand the business arrangement, one is her job and the other is her private side gig for profit.

If she is drawing a salary, how does she get to cherry pick what goes into a NYT article and what gets hidden for a future book?

At that firm, a "publicity powerhouse" whose eponymous founder has been called "the dean of damage control" by Rudy Giuliani, Haberman's mother has done work for a client list of influential New Yorkers including Donald Trump.
