An employee of an Omaha software company Buildertrend has been fired for allegedly using the N-word on an airline flight, the Lincoln Journal Star reports.
Passengers on the Delta flight from Omaha to New York say a group of people who'd been drinking boarded the plane and continued to be rowdy, many of whom had masks with the Buildertrend logo. Laura Austin, who was on the flight, said a Black flight attendant went to the back of the plane to talk with the passengers but later came back very shaken.
She told us that she asked some people to put their masks on, and someone called her the N-word, Austin said.
In a statement this Wednesday, Buildertrend CEO Dan Houghton apologized and said the incident is being investigated by "internal and external parties to learn as much as possible so that we can take appropriate action." ...............(more)

(16,925 posts)When I was 16 I was finally able to drive a truck for the bakery where I worked on weekends and in the summer.
Before I pulled out for my first run to the other stores the owner came over to me and said:
"Remember, that's MY name on the side of that truck. Anybody having a problem - they'll know who to call."
Obviously, a lesson I never forgot - and apparently, a lesson these meatheads never got....

(17,862 posts)My daughter who has a friend made a pretty innocuous comment on Facebook that her employer saw and fired her over. That is also why I won't wear a company identified shirt or hat unless it is a requirement for my job (like a trade show).
I am generally not an a___hole. I am respectful to everyone, but it don't take much to go sideways in an encounter (especially one in which the other party controls the editing of a video). Most of the videos we see are of true a_holes and racists, but I wouldn't want to have my job in jeopardy over a false accusation.
