(15,359 posts)few years. More than I ever thought I could. I'm not screwing it up now. I hope we're in the clear before long. Getting messed up now wouldn't be as bad as being the last guy killed in a war, but you get the idea.

(12,802 posts)and vaccinated people who got Covid will still suffer down the road. People I talk to that had it are tired and feel weak still. All ages too. This thing will be with us for a while, killing us for a while longer.

(12,286 posts)I am perfectly capable of evaluating the risk to my health.
It is almost nothing.
Statistically insignificant.
I am at more risk driving a car.

(6,876 posts)I have no idea how. I have KN95 masks and I use them. I must have slipped up somehow.
Anyhoo, I am feeling very sick. I thank the goddesses that I got boosted. Im overweight, 65, and have type 2 diabetes. I fit the profile exactly of people that have lost their lives to this tiny virus.

(4,248 posts)She is often assigned to the Covid step-down unit at her hospital. That's where patients are moved when they're discharged from the ICU but need to begin rehabilitation of some kind. The complications and long term effects of Covid can be severe. She says that for most who need rehab their lives will never be the same. They will probably never recover the physical capabilities they had and they will be at risk for future complications.
It's a dangerous disease.

(39,120 posts)We do have to learn to live with it. It is not going away.
Are there DUers who say "it's not that bad?" Do you mean those who say Omicron cases have generally been milder? They have. I know many people, all boosted, who have contracted it and recovered quickly. This is also what the initial information on the strain reflected. This doesn't mean that there have not been serious cases that have resulted in deaths, particularly among the Unvaxxed, of which there are very few on DU.
Also, I admit it: I'm "done" with Covid. I'm exhausted by 2 years of this. I want it to be over. That doesn't mean it is going to be over, or that I'm going to start kissing strangers at a GQP fundraising event.

(93,532 posts)... vaxed as if the unvaxed aren't living a whole different world of risk.
Yeah, we DO have to live with C19 cause even if 100% of the planet was vaxed it wouldn't jump in a space ship and fly away.
Its just if you get it get the watered down version of it not the cause you heart failure version of it

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
