Happy Friday DUers
All this crap about intent is one big joke. Of course there was intent - this is the Slobfather.

I see Stephen Miller's hand in this...he's the brains behind the operation...and he's been keeping a low profile since the Trump show left the White House!

(25,816 posts)The kid is 6'7" and he's 15 years old. That's why you never see him photographed next to Spanky.
I think Melanoma was playing on the other side of the fence.
Of course, Barron wasn't involved in any of the shenanigans of Jr. and Gums.

(45,380 posts)Barron has Spanky's dopey looking face so he's definitely his kid.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)that's the only way the poor kid takes after him -- and cut him a break on insinuations about anything related to him. Best leave him out of it altogether.

(3,474 posts)I know the jokes weren't directly AT him, but imagine if the poor kid was reading them.
I'm remembering how John McCain lowered himself to make a joke about Chelsea when she was about that age.
I actually think that Barron may be the one to redeem that family name.

(31,373 posts)You are beyond optimistic.
That poor kid's chances will only be improved by putting a LOT of distance between himself and the rest of the family once he's turned 18.

(58,785 posts)dishonest dealing and schemes, as if societal standards are meant for losers and little people.
Did you see Melania's effort to sell digital art featuring her beautiful cobalt eyes, btw, paid for with virtual currency? It's in the form of an "NFT," which is apparently a digital file you've purchased ownership of, although anyone can download the file if they have access and their copy is literally identical to the owned file. Apparently "counterfeits" already abound. Proceeds to go to charity.

I love how she said "some" proceeds would go to charity, but wouldn't say how much.
It is fascinating to me that there are people who are always looking for a scheme or a scam, even when there are perfectly honest and lucrative options right in front of them. In their minds if it is dishonest, somehow it is better and lies are preferable to the truth. Their minds are wired differently I suppose.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)who turn to crime seemingly unnecessarily often find it more satisfying, but he didn't go into why. The people we've seen around tRump have made me want to read more about them, but there's little written, in lay language anyway, about that kind of criminal mind. Now, if they also murder their wives, that's different.
As for how much might find its way to charity, I don't see that the tRumps ever replaced the family charity that NY ordered dissolved. So that's certainly a valid question.

(47,255 posts)They take some perverse pleasure in getting away with something. We've seen that with Trump throughout his business career. Ripping people off isn't necessarily more profitable or good business, but it is more satisfying. He is the poster child for whatever this disorder is.
This reminds me of compulsive liars I've known. For them a lie is always better than the truth and I believe they feel like they've gotten away with something. Power? Competition? Control? It tends to be very self-destructive in the long run.
Maybe it goes back to that first time they cheated, stole, or lied and didn't get caught. Maybe they are always trying to relive that moment of power and pseudo superiority. Kind of like the compulsive gambler trying to relive that first big win. A dopamine fix.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)to hurt people, and criminal behaviors almost by definition harm their targets. Seemingly all the better for tRump if it's personal harm, like little businessowners and tradespeople who're never too small to cheat. Wonder how that's going for him these days?
Oh, well. Fascinating topic, but enough of their personal sewer for today.
PatSeg
(47,255 posts)As for the cruelty, I think that is also part of the power and superiority aspect.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)cruelty might be element there. Just guessing, of course. As for the spawn, I'm also guessing they'd do almost everything he insisted on that they might not be able to evade prosecution for and are not exempty from cruelty, a lifelong pattern. What a family.

I can imagine he was very active behind the scenes. With his ties to the Middle East, the possibilities are endless. I wonder if anyone is investigating him.

When someone tears up documents, burns documents, steals documents, I have one question, what other intent can there be than to not preserve them as required by law?
