That when you, I, anyone is waiting at a traffic light, or in a grocery store, or in any similar public place, that a good number of the people are armed. It may be concealed carry, or open carry, or the gun that should be locked in the glove box is in the front seat instead. The sheer number of weapons in circulation and the meme that we are in constant need for protection naturally leads to this.

Guns have been around for a long time but the number of guns now available is much greater than ever before and growing. In high school I saw people settling scores by fighting in the parking lot. Today scores are settled with semi-automatic weapons in the halls, instead. And the fact that almost anyone can buy a gun with few restrictions means that many who should never touch a weapon due to incompetence, mental illness, bad judgement, etc, are armed and ready to lash out when offended.

It's a dystopia for responsible, sane citizens which means it's utopia for the cranks, quacks, angry and impaired among us.

They get a good workout, somebody would eventually stop the fight. They’d settle the argument. And they’d have a good story they could exaggerate about in the bar when they were middle-aged. None of that happens with a gun.And if somebody shoots somebody they haven’t really proven their strength or stamina at all

5. It's weird how nothing ever gets done, isn't it?

Of course, any discussion of gun violence begins with the tacit assumption that we don't talk about guns and we won't talk about violence. Other than that, the floor is open for discussion.

5 officers shot and 4 with shrapnel.

The scene is still being investigated and some neighbors are still unable to get into their homes.
