I mean, WTF? Forget the fireplaces, there are shredders easily available specifically designed to rip classified documents into pieces smaller than grains of rice. There are “burn bags” used in government offices for sensitive items to be incinerated on a daily basis. Yet this buffoon manually tears up papers into about eight pieces and calls it a day?

He has actually had this habit for a while though, even before becoming President. The only thing I can think of is that it is more of a display of power and control for him, as opposed to really caring about avoiding getting caught.

I wonder if the super secure server they set up for him ever got recovered and examined by the Biden team… Eh, they probably took it with them.

One thing’s for sure… The next fascist wannabe to get into that office is most likely going to be a helluva lot smarter, and will cover their tracks a whole lot better. Not that it matters; time and time again the Democrats have decided to “look forward and not backwards”, leaving the crimes of their predecessors unpunished. It’s possible that this time things will be different, but I won’t hold my breath.

He's likely heard stories of teams of agents meticulously reassembling shredded documents. He would never start a fire himself or likely even go near a fireplace. Those burn-bags would need a helper and he doesn't trust anyone.

You are likely correct about having the tearing and flushing habit for years since he has never been on the level about anything. He is corrupt right through to his DNA. I don't agree that it is a "display of power" though. I honestly think he thinks that flushed documents go away--just like his turds. He's got an anal-stage fixation with the toilet. It makes sense to him and flushing is easy. We have all probably seen tweets (before they were banned) from him as he sat comfortably on his gilded toilet thinking he is smart.

Sad. He is so messed up. He should never, ever be allowed to run for any kind of office and should be locked away from polite society.

it was more likely privacy. The john is the only place he feels safe to hide his actions.
He's a fearful man so it's also likely that he is afraid of fire or of burning his hair because of the flammable hair spray. Not to mention the smoke smell. He surely never made a fire himself anyway.
I remember him once ranting to his flock about how much hairspray he used- you know presidential stuff.
