I have no idea why illiterate book-banners who worship an orange-faced lard-ass, who think flushing official documents down the toilet is normal, believe that an election was stolen without any proof, elect representatives who promote the idea of Jewish Space Lasers, cling to the historical achievement of shutting down airports in 1775, realize that a world-wide pandemic is a hoax, don't understand the difference between a violent attack on the Capitol and legitimate political discourse, and swill their own piss while waiting for JFK to return from the dead are not given more respect.
These voices need to be heard. And hopefully, they'll be heard in time.

(2,019 posts)Unscrew the tube top cap and squeeze the paste out on a small plate and replace the top cap.
Cut the tube bottom off with scissors just above the end.
With a blunt knife, spread the two sides apart to open the tube at the bottom.
Scrap the paste off the plate with the knife and scoop it into the tube from the bottom.
With needle nosed pliers squeeze the bottom ends back together and push the paste to the tube top.
With the pliers, hold the bottom together about 1/4 up from the tube end.
Use a lighter to melt the plastic until it gets very soft (caution, do not touch the hot plastic).
Move the pliers down to squeeze the hot ends together and hold until cool. You may fold the ends a little to insure a tight seal.
The toothpaste is back in the tube and ready for use.
Caution do not breath the hot plastic fumes. Well, maybe just a little at the end.

We must call them out every single day.
Ridicule them every single day.
Shame them every single day.
Shine the light on them every single day and watch them scuttle about.
They'll never learn or go away, but all the sane Homo Sapiens will thank us for doing it.

(3,894 posts)Your turns of phrase are impeccable & inspiring as always. You nailed one of the major problems of these dark & foolish times by describing some of the ridiculous & dangerous Q-galvanized wet-dreams of the insane, barely conscious remnant of the GOP
You speak for many, many people every time you put pen to paper (fingers to keyboard?)

(22,188 posts)before social media. Back in the day, you dealt with this shit from your crazy uncle at Thanksgiving or occasionally at the corner pub from some goof who's perpetually drunk. A couple of nutters at church or at school board meetings, but rarely other than that. It certainly wasn't ubiquitous. Information passed through various gatekeepers who weeded out the complete bullshit. Wasn't perfect by any means, but it worked for the most part in the west. Today....the nuts, morons and imbeciles are united thanks to Twitter, Facebook, etc. etc. etc. Make the world more open and connected? Some people don't NEED to be fucking connected. For all our sakes.
But technology rolls on. What can you do?
