She was only 36. One week away from a bone marrow transplant. Sadly it had to be delayed since the donor contracted covid. 36. 36 years old and left behind a child. This is a big conflict of how grieving is. Shutting down from shock.

(340 posts)Grief is not a mental illness, even though it can too often *feel* like one probably because every new grief has the potential to reawaken any (or every) old grief. Please be gentle with yourself.

(844 posts)That's terrible. Please over time pay lots of good attention to her child. She will need a lot of love.

(29,634 posts)First, I am terribly sorry for your loss. It sounds unbearable.
Second, I wish we could drum it into the heads of people like the fake truckers that there are all these ancillary consequences to their selfishness.

My BMT unit shut down last month, because of Covid, delaying my transplant.
I found out last week I will be getting it on Monday.
I found out yesterday I am no longer in remission.
Covid is killing us more ways than one.

(26,856 posts)A very dear friend about 25+ yrs ago "disappeared" from our several times a year long letters to each other (she was waaaay overseas).
Finally 1 1/2 yrs later I get a letter. She had to go help her brother ( 4 siblings in all) who had gotten one of the blood cancers - seriousy cleaning the place down every day type thing for anti infection protocol.
Anyway he recovered, and is still with his family all these years later!
The best of luck, and good health again!

.🤬 Anti-vaxxers (in general) dragging this damn thing out, getting more people sick, filling up hospitals much of last year, and this. Taking beds away from other people w/o covid who need help!
