Remember Walt Starr? Remember Paul Lukasiak?

Paul Lukasiak has a twitter presence, and that has jogged my memory.

His work on the GWBush AWOL matter is legendary.

Check out this thread from archived DU, where Walt reviews Lukasiak's evidence against W.

1. The last day of the AWOL scandal.

The Friday before the election.

So many people had worked on finding evidence of W's absence from his post of duty during wartime.

And then so many people tried desperately to get the story into the MSM. Time was running out.

Friday before the election, Senator Bob Kerrey had called a press conference to disclose this AWOL truth to the American people.

Just prior to the press conference, Karl Rove's tip to a FOX affiliate about W's drunk driving was made public and it took off like wildfire in the media, obliterating Kerrey's press conference.

And that was the end of the matter that could have affected the election.

Rove's way of winning: Seize the daily news narrative by 5 pm. every day. It worked every time.

It's been a looooong time since I left. I'm sure many original DUers are gone. I've lived two whole lives since I joined in early 2000's.

Walt, Nance, and who can forget "I'm owed beer and travel money" (RT).

Much came out of this place, and of all the sites I've been on, DU has been pretty far ahead of the curve. Too bad some of the most prophetic of us got fed up or TS'd.

Anyone know if Underground Panther is still around?
