Given the latest revelation the Jan 6th Committee is "in discussions for Rudy be appearing..."
Trump didnt pay Rudy.
Trump wont return Rudys calls even after Rudys law license was suspended because of Trump.
Trump is now supporting Rudys sons opponent in the GOP race for governor of New York.
So yeah, I think theres a solid chance Rudy will now flip on Trump.

(6,836 posts)That's a good reason not to even offer him even a little immunity.
But I'm not working thcase, so who knows what they'll do.

(16,923 posts)Here's another 'possibility:'
Thee whole snake regime has worked "drag-it-out-forever" into a fine art that they have used and will continue to use through another administration or two!
What's Rudy - 78 in May?
Here's his 'time-line:'
Do nothing - no deal to testify - at least 1 to 2 months (April, 2022)
Committee issues subpoena - (May - June, 2022)
Do nothing - (continued from February!!!!)
Committee refers to DOJ - (August/September, 2022)
DOJ responds --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

(15,568 posts)They dont have to wait for the committee I think Rudy is hoping to get immunity from the committee, or scare Trump into footing his legal bills

(16,923 posts)the same 'playbook' is used........
Draw them out until:
1. A 'TRUMP' judge rules for him
2. There's a change in either the White House/Congress/DOJ and charges are dropped
3. Back to the dentist's chair..........(see above post)

(1,366 posts)reactions to anything. It is not beyond possibility that he will drool extensively before the committee before he lunges forward over the table to try and strangel the first person he sees.

(5,969 posts)I have no clue why anyone would seriously believe he'd flip on Trump and also implicate himself in the process.

(11,572 posts)I would love to be listening to his interviews! How low did he and TFG go anyway? Was anything on the level whatsoever? Did they offer to sell our country out? Gawd.

(15,378 posts)And he put away a lot of powerful criminals so he can read the direction something is going, and through the windmills in his mind, he must realize that 1. Trump's not going to pay him what Trump owes him and thus 2. he doesn't have the money to mount any kind of defense. So he's going to try to ask for some sort of immunity to throw Trump under the bus, otherwise, Number 2 might see him the gray-bar hotel.
At least, that's my hope.

(64,951 posts)RG made his bones (see what I did there) getting a massive set of convictions in the "Commission Trial".
But, the massive infiltration of the mob by Joe Pistons (aka Donnie Brasco) gave inside information, plus RICO, that made that case a slam dunk.
They could have only screwed it up, which they did not.
I don't think his reputation as a mob crusher is warranted because Pistone's information basically made the case for the prosecution.

(6,158 posts)He's very deep into the fake electors thing, and may feel he has no choice. We'll see to what extent he invokes the 5th.
Some degree of immunity might help, but Rudy is an unpredictable, slippery, somewhat demented person.
Even given all that, it's could very well be chips, dip, and beer time if he comes before the January 6th committee in public session.

(10,122 posts)He talked about it.
Trump must think it is not that damaging.
Maybe Rudy wasn't smart enough to get 'good' dirt.
The problem with Rudy is that he is as dishonest as Trump.
How do you believe anything he tells you?
It can't hurt to talk with him to see what he has to offer.
But I'm not sure how useful it will be.
No way Rudy is a credible witness you can rely on.
OTH, Rudy might be pretty desperate.
One appealing thing about it is you know it would make Trump crazy uncomfortable.
Rudy was in a position to know a heck of a lot of what was going on.
