This is from 2013, part of a movie, and relevant.

(58,910 posts)I remember watching that scene, which is I think the first in the series and thinking, "I will watch every second of this thing for every episode no matter how long it runs!"

(4,403 posts)Ive never seen that clip before. I almost cried. It goes along side by side with the George Carlin rant. Theres a reason for this, there a reason why they call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

Great scene, though.

(24,906 posts)it was a long time ago. But like I said it was a fictional TV show.
It was meant to entertain, not educate. It was not a documentary.

(22,777 posts)But I've also never known Sorkin to include intentional fallacies in his scripts, either.

(8,650 posts)A lot of popular west wings clips feel like that as well.
I suppose this one is just as contrived, but to me is much better in inspiring one to oppose the inevitable cynicism.

(22,777 posts)almost as much as The West Wing. So much that, since I don't watch TV anymore and haven't in a very long time, I checked the DVDs out of the library a few years ago or so, and we had a weekend binge watch. Sorkin does some amazing, extremely intelligent writing. There's been too little of that for too long.
