A 'charity' event hosted by Melania Trump is being investigated after organizers said a portion of ticket proceeds would go to a charity that doesn't appear to exist, The New York Times reported.
Melania is due to appear at a "high tea" event in April in Naples, Florida, which organizers say will "benefit Fostering the Future, a Be Best initiative," which gives computer science scholarships to those aging out of the foster care system.
Regular tickets cost $3,000 and limited VIP tickets cost $50,000 each. It's unclear what percentage of the proceeds will go to charity.
According to The New York Times, no charity with the name "Fostering the Future" or "Be Best" is registered in Florida.

(16,903 posts)I think I read somewhere that she was very invested in Bitcoin. Bitcoin just lost 99.9 of its value in one month.

(13,490 posts)Hit a high in November at around 60,000. This morning it's trading at about 42.000. (So it has NOT lost its value at 99.9%. It's more down about 25-30% from the high.)
Perhaps you're thinking of the LGB coin? (Let's Go Brandon coin?) That's essentially worthless now. While I think it's foolish to invest a lot into any crypto, the LGB coin was REALLY a grift/scam.
Melania -- like the rest of the Trumps -- is a scam artist. Selling NFTs and investing in crypto is par for the course.

(13,490 posts)a stupid investment! I think your overall point was true. It isn't a sound investment strategy putting money into something so speculative and volatile.

And that's about it: no webpage, no publicly uploaded financial filings, although the latter isn't overly surprising given the late 2020 registration date, and IRS processing delays. (On the other hand, they may not have filed any or had any activity..)

(46,080 posts)Legally, a husband doesn't HAVE TO sufficiently fund a wife. That's where the term "Cheaper to keep her" comes from and that's why wives file for divorce. And that's a trade-off as as a divorcee, you get a court-ordered monthly stipend but you can't inherit when your ex dies.
