General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTo those flying those "FUCK BIDEN!" flags: I totally understand.
After all, just consider this past year:
---he moved quickly to get over 200 million of us vaccinated against covid
---he restored decency and civility in the White House
---our allies are neither repulsed or amused by him. They respect him
---he and his wife appear to genuinely love each other. Jill has never refused to hold Joe's hand
---there are no nude photos of this First Lady on the internet
--- more jobs were created in his first year in office than in any other president's first year
---somehow, he has permitted working people to effectively double the hourly rate for new hires in the service industry
---there are no "love letters" from "Rocket Man" and none of the lipstick on Putin's butt is Joe's shade
---he has not routinely lied to the American people
I could go on, but that's enough to show you that I really do understand: Joe Biden has never been, is not now and never will be "your kinda guy".
The rest of us are unbelievably grateful for that.

(43,128 posts)I dislike four letter words in public. Think of the kids. Think of their kids, because they can't.
I suppose fuck will lose its impact. But do we have decency if nothing is verboten? If nothing is forbidden we have no reason for the word forbidden. So the supposed moralizers have made immorality universal.
What will they do when Trump is in jail?

(17,199 posts)I'm more concerned about what they'll do prior to him being locked up. About the time he finally figures out where
he's headed, will he hint/tell the magaloons to attack (fill in the blank) to keep him out of jail?

(14,570 posts)not his fault - I credit Manchin and Sinema - I very much wanted the age of Medicare eligibility to be reduced.
That one thing would be a massive, massive help for millions of Americans including me and my wife.
However, that said, Biden HAS been a transformative president. He's a good one!

(10,154 posts)He doesn't have strangely orange skin on his face that ends at his neck . He doesn't have a bad yellowish comb over and wear I'll fitting suits that have legs the size of his wife's long skirts.
He has more than single syllable words in his vocabulary and can speak in full sentences without sounding like a 1950s mob boss.

(1,639 posts). . . Besides the general competency, that is, is the fact that Biden does not take himself so Effing seriously. Now, I'm using the euphemism because I don't need or enjoy going out of my way to curse, but the suggested profanity sort of makes my point.
I'm sure that Joe Biden doesn't love being the object of such disrespect. However, he is mature enough and focused enough on what is important to shrug off those sorts of pointless insults. Trump is so concerned about his image because there is so little of substance to the man that a crafted image is all he can grab onto to maintain any psychological equilibrium. Biden is experienced enough to understand that his image has some bearing on his ability to get things done, but he is not distracted by his own hype.
Read a quote years ago that sums up this contrast.
Always take your work seriously. Never take yourself seriously.
Biden is about the work. Trump is about self-aggrandizement. So who cares if people want to curse out Joe? The guy's got more important things to worry about.

But we live in a world of 90 second sound-byte, corporate financed news. And we have failed miserably at Civics and history education, and I mean miserably.

(6,169 posts)President Biden believes in serving the nation, TFG believes in serving himself.
President Biden strives to unite people, TFG strives to divide them.
President Biden actually is a religious person, TFG holds the bible upside down and backwards...sort of his whole approach to the presidency.
President Biden will work with anyone who is willing to work with him, TFG demands everyone do exactly as he tells them to, and derides anyone who opposes him.
President Biden actually follows the rule of law, TFG believes he is the law.
I could go on, and on, and on...

(1,323 posts)They need a leader who hates, so they have a place to put their hate. Now they have this guy who is on a completely even keel, who doesn't spew hatred and whine about how mistreated he is. So they will hate the guy who replaced their guy. They are warped and twisted.

I am totally proud and so grateful for Joe Biden and his wife, and Kamala Harris and her husband. I respect our county and the values our forefathers put in place that have always been our guiding light. I truly hope and pray the rogue and all his followers end up in jail or prison and out of our hair at last.

(768 posts)Trump and his allies are working hard every day to corrupt your local election systems, through voter intimidation and voter suppression and gerrymandering.
Here in Ohio they are preparing to elect another DeSantis and the same is happening in most Red states. Once governors and Secretaries of State are in place that toe the Trump party line, we are in deep, deep trouble.
Once these thugs control the vote in the States, we are effectively done as democratic nation. Your vote will count about as much as a a vote counts in Putin's Russia.

(768 posts)If it wasn't Biden it might be Clinton or Obama or anyone who is a representative of "the others".
The rise of neo-Fascism here in the USA like every other right-wing movement in history is always enriched by manufacturing hate and fear of a supposed enemy.
Point is, it does not matter at all what Biden may or may not do. This is about simple-minded emotional manipulation, not facts.
This is an illustration of the inherent power of populist propaganda. This is what many on the Left as well as the unaffiliated don't seem to understand, or if they do, they cannot determine a way to combat it.
