FULTON COUNTY, Ky. Kentucky and Tennessee agencies are responding after federal and state authorities discovered a deadly outbreak of avian influenza in chickens in Southwestern Kentucky near the Tennessee state line.
According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, inspectors found cases of the H5N1 strain of Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza in a flock of commercial broiler chickens in Fulton County, Kentucky.

It kills like 60% of the people infected!
Sadly, they will probably have to kill all the chickens who might have been exposed. That seems to be the main way they have kept H5N1 in check so far.
A lot of times, it is spread to chicken and turkey flocks by migrating birds. It's really scary when you think of all the things that are out there lurking. The book said a gram of infected duck feces can infect over a million birds.
