The new Texas voting law is not going well

We are now starting to learn how a raft of new election laws will actually affect voters.

New laws, passed by GOP-controlled legislatures under the guise of securing elections in multiple states, will lead to fewer people voting if Texas foreshadows what will happen in other states.

Early voting kicked off in Texas on Monday for US congressional seats, governor and six other statewide offices.

CNN's Fredreka Schouten talked to people who tried and failed, more than once, to get and cast an absentee ballot.

The law is working as it was intended to.

Republicans can't lose if Democratic voters are "Legally" blocked from voting.

The Texas legis was warned about the problems of the voter id requirements for vote by mail and went forward with the law in order to suppress the vote

She spoke of her grandfather having to pay a poll tax.
