There was legislation in place that shielded gun manufacturers, from liability if their products caused injury or death. So glad they were able to find a way to make these ruthless, greedy, shameless companies bare responsibility.

Remington wanted to avoid the Jury Trial and discovery and embarrassment... and their settlement was a good way to make it go away... probably with lots of NDA's and agreements not to publicly trash Remington.
