Analysis of guns and ammunition seized near Coutts, Alta. blockade

The mixed cache of weapons and ammunition seized by RCMP near Coutts Monday could carry heavy legal penalties and suggest some were planning for violence.

Based on photographs of the seizure provided by RCMP there appear to be seven semi-automatic rifles. Of those six are likely legally classified as newly 'prohibited' under the sweeping federal assault weapons ban that came into effect May 1, 2020.

The same guns were generally treated the same as handguns prior to the changes. Many thousands still remain in licensed owners' possession as Ottawa works out how it will go about compensating them.

"Most of those rifles were legal up until last year. They're not legal now. If you have one it's supposed to be sitting in your … gun locker in your house," said David Bercuson, an author and military historian.

He says there are things about the guns that only investigators will know for certain — namely whether any of the assault-style rifles were capable of fully-automatic fire.

Point will use the machete and I hope I am not stuck again carrying all the ammo on my back.
I mean, like who hasn't carried a downtown armory in the face of the clear and present danger of city-fied ladies walking poodles in the park

Can we all agree that these slack jawed mentally incompetent hatriotic truckers are not just fools but also domestic terrorists now?

This isn't only a Canadian problem but an American one as well. We have hatriots here in our own country providing material aid and support to these white supremacist terrorist and we need to be wary of them.

Everyone who contribution to these vile antigovernment loons is documented somewhere (either at Gofundme or whatever site they're using). Has this information been turned over to the FBI yet? It's no different contributing to these monsters than it is to be contributing to ISIS.

We need to crack down on these bigots now before they replicate the violence here in our own country.
