In my opinion, this is the most important message for Americans to receive before the next election.
There are many in the cult that will not hear it because they do not see any danger to our democracy.
But, in my opinion, there are many Republicans that understand that Trump and the present Republican establishment are a threat to our country.
By simply pointing out that the Republicans cannot be trusted with control of our government, most Americans understand that it carries a seed of truth.
It has to be that subtle, in my opinion, or they block out everything that is said in this partisan environment.

(111,079 posts)People understand what happened.
But they will not listen to the truth if they feel they are beaten over the head with it.
Republicans have proven they cannot protect or defend our democracy. That is all people need to know.

(13,582 posts)Just listen to what elected Republican officials say on a daily basis. They invite violence, chaos, and foreign intervention in our domestic affairs. Listen to them advocate a small group of Republican representatives replacing the simple and elegant idea of one person one vote. Listen to them promote corporate monopolies and cartels over local small businesses.
The party of Lincoln has been drowned in a bathtub by 50 Republican Senators and about 200 GQP House members. They have replaced it with a violent cult that worships a one term president and promotes government at the point of a gun.

(1,052 posts)we were going to have any more free and fair elections. Without the voting rights bills there will be a Republican majority one way or anotherr

(111,079 posts)Right?
MadameButterfly
(1,052 posts)but we also need to have our eyes open about what is going on. We can't stop fighting for voting rights. Find some pieces of it Republicans can't say no to. Random audits, for example--they of all people should be for that. Maybe limit criteria by which a legislature can overturn an election.
This is a case where going for everything is making us get nothing. Not having mail in ballots for all those years did't end democracy. Voter suppression is bad but we've always had it, and really determined person can overcome it.
However, we haven't had electronic vote fraud (that we know) or state houses overturning results before. These will stymie all our efforts, and effectively end democracy, whoever shows up to vote.

(111,079 posts)It needs to be repetitive.
It will be much more effective than just attacking the other side with partisan attacks.
It is a simple statement that people can hear and weigh without being instantly offended.
Bettie
(16,095 posts)other messages.
For example, my current rep is taking credit for the Infrastructure bill, but she spoke against and voted against it. Her opponent should make the fact that she's a liar an issue. Make sure everyone knows she lies about things. Attack her credibility.
She's also said things in favor of the insurrectionists. Make a point of her lack of care for our nation.
They always say "X Democrat is TOO RADICAL for insert state name", well, we need to coopt that message because many of them are FAR too radical for the United States.
kentuck
(111,079 posts)But the basic message must be that they have shown that they cannot be trusted with our democracy or our Constitution.
Individuals should be called out on their hypocrisy , for sure.
Bettie
(16,095 posts)and message one is that they can not be trusted.
Because it must be repetitive.

(90,335 posts)... the GQP into dust with this simple message if those generic ballot polls are confirmed.
With that message I think we gain seats in Nov, maybe should be an OP
Bettie
(16,095 posts)I don't think we're going to lose in November.
I think they are overplaying their hands, there are sane people who look at the people who are running (and make no mistake, Republican primaries are likely to put some truly crazed people into the mix) and say "No, not that...".
At least I hope so.
And I'm not normally optimistic, but this time, I don't know why, but I feel like it will be OK...maybe it's because the people who yell about doom and gloom aren't all that confident?

(90,335 posts)... , hell naw, not them.
We'll be frustrated at most with Biden but we wont be on the wrong track
Bettie
(16,095 posts)the "doom and gloom" meetings a time or two in the past! LOL.
And yes, we will be frustrated (because who isn't sometimes) but he's not trying to kill us all.
