Funny, to me anyway.

I live in the very red Florida Panhandle. I was out having a beer and got to chatting with two guys at the bar. Not sure what I said that set the one guy off but apparently he found my “liberal attitude” offensive and suggested I leave. The owner of the bar was there and he was like “nope, this is that kind of place.” The look on the guy’s face was priceless. He definitely didn’t expect a big, old burly bar owner to be a card carrying, rainbow flag waving liberal.

because there can only be one member who works in any given field? I may be mistaking it with another one.

Whichever it is, I remember there being a story that, when a new protestant pastor came to town and there was already a boship who was a member, they gor around it by calling the p[artor "Religion, retail" and the Bishop "Religion, wholesale."

I left the club about 20 years ago, so I've forgotten some details. I seem to recall that there could be two people from each classification, and the first person would have an opportunity to blackball a new nominee in that classification (that rarely happened). And yes, they would get creative with the classifications if there was a nominee that they really wanted in the club. Those classification restrictions were rarely an issue.

Except I live in a working class area of Pittsburgh. Lots of QAnon idiots at the neighborhood dive pub I hang out at occasionally, but the owner though conservative, (a middle aged white gent who loves Irish whiskey, H40 and Reggae)takes no shit from racists, QAnon idiots or just plain obnoxious and threatening Right Wingers.

His policy is All are welcome (the neighborhood is quietly being filled up with Nepalese, Latin Americans and Vietnamese taking low paying working class jobs and moving into the low income housing nearby), no N or C word usage allowed at all, and everyone has to treat everyone else with respect or he will 86 their ass permanently.

Deep red (Matt's district) with a hostile attitude toward anything smelling of being a liberal. Interesting, though, the local rag has been critical of the gov. and Matt lately . There may be hope somewhere in the future.

They have live music 6 nights a week and afternoon sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Yoga a couple nights a week. He’s openly liberal which is an oddity around here and has earned him a devoted clientele.
