In more ways than anyone can count, they are still protected by it. They don't know how lucky they are because what they are trying to destroy is what's actually saving them.

2. Those so-called patriots and defenders of the Constitution hate everything in the First Amendment.

Not to mention how they want to make pretty much the rest of the Amendments subject to distinctions based on race and/or repealed entirely. They want this country to go back to how it was in the 1820s and instead of the 2020s.
