A Louisville bail fund organization has posted bail for a man charged with the attempted murder of a mayoral candidate. The Louisville Community Bail Fund, supported by Black Lives Matter Louisville, paid the $100,000 bond set for Quintez Brown Wednesday afternoon.
Brown left Metro Corrections Wednesday evening hours after his bail was paid.
Brown is accused of trying to shoot Craig Greenberg at his Butchertown office on Monday. No one was injured in the incident, but a round struck Greenberg's clothing, according to Louisville Metro Police.
Greenberg released a statement Thursday, calling the criminal justice system "clearly broken."

(18,497 posts)I can understand why Mr Greenberg is concerned. If I were the subject of an assassination attempt and the alleged assassin was released two days later I would be very worried he would try again.

Hmmm.
Imagine if the would be assassin were Republican. Feels like a lot of spaces are avoiding this story like the plague. It isn't even on the front page of CNN.

(3,175 posts)First you've got all the confident assertions that this just had to have been perpetrated by a MAGAt, plus the even more confident assertions that this is just the beginning.
Then there's the post bemoaning the fact that the police didn't just gun him down out of hand. I guess police violence is okay as long as the target is acceptable (or believed to be acceptable).
Oh, and crickets about the fact that BLM posted his bond, of course.
And last but not least, there's the "he's mentally ill" bit. I thought we were tired of hearing that one, but it found a new lease on life on that thread.
Absolutely ridiculous.

(3,175 posts)People are tired of hearing it... right up until it can be applied to someone for whom they feel sympathy. If the shooter had actually been a white Trump supporter, the words "mentally ill" would have been used sarcastically and/or with outright scorn.

(33,251 posts)If it had been 500K, and LCBF had paid put up 50K, would the criminal justice system still be broken?
What if it was a million and they put up the 100K? Would that change anything?
Brown's not going anywhere except home incarceration; then he's going to go to trial (or a plea deal more likely). Meantime, I hope he gets some mental health help.
Thankfully no one was killed or injured. Brown is very lucky.
