(42,770 posts)He really bloodied up pence and desantis to win nomination. And he probably would have cheated/finagled nom process in some way. All this should diminish his overall support. That is in a just world
You are right .. most risk most reward.

Apologies for the source.
Susquehanna has both Biden and Harris beating Trump. You can see that poll on 538.

(3,433 posts)but I don't think he much of a chance to win the nomination. It will be Trump or another Trumpian candidate. Why do people want him to run against Pence?

(42,770 posts)tried to hang him? So two strikes??

(5,557 posts)But, he's more dangerous than Trump because there is a small chance that through the campaign he could mend the rift between the 'normal' republicans and the Trumpists.
Trump himself on the other hand would never be able to unify their electorate again and only drive them further apart. He'd be my pick, zero chance of winning and likely to do long term damage to them as well.

(15,407 posts)Never say zero. If Biden is polling bad and no voting rights are passed, then he could win.

(42,770 posts)supporters? Like any demographic growth? I have not. But just thinking about it... He lost in 2020. And that was before 1-6 horror. Since then his acct got indicted and investigations on rise. He is acting battier than ever.
So I agree how could he possibly win? Can't see suburbs thinking " one second thought, love this guy" Nothing good for him has happened, only bad things. Unless he seriously cheats is the only way or if our candidate weakens considerably. But by mid 2023 inflation will have diminished. Covid will be horrible memory I hope.

(58,785 posts)We saw how amazingly easily they could be turned on Pence, and I feel quite sure tRump would loathe the very idea of Pence becoming president... He'd never be able to maintain even a pretense of support for a year.
Definitely Pence.

(42,770 posts)trump's obsession with moving things away from in front of him. Strikes me as a very strange mental behavior. And much more than worrying about a photo op. What do you think? Think related to his narcissism? Like I am so incredibly brilliant that I don't need anything whatsoever in front of me to help me whatever the situation is? Uber human - don't even need water?
Maybe same thing with him destroying documents? I mean over and above not wanting to have a paper trail. Its like I am so smart I don't need notes?
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)possibly characteristic of something or other.
I've read that clinical narcissists are obsessed with their appearance to others, so perhaps he's constantly trying to keep the foreground worthy of his magnificent visage?
Speaking of, a real hoot and wowser, btw, is something I read about how they tend to fantasize. Hadn't thought about this for a long time. Most of us do stories involving ourselves in some pleasing way. Many narcissists instead seemingly fantasize an idealized image of themselves and just...sit and admire it. The favorite image may go decades with little change, and their hairstyles and so on in their image were often originally copied from someone admired when they were young.
It occurred to me when I read that that Troy Donahue and Elvis would have been romantic movie stars about the right time. Of course, there was also Mother...

(42,770 posts)with foundation $. And unfortunately I made myself mad too close to going to sleep LOL
How did the foundation get away with all the shenanigans? Foundation was dissolved but was that it? No payback? Well gave myself something new to look up
https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2019/02/27/trump-spent-dollar60000-in-foundation-money-to-buy-vanity-portrait-michael-cohen-reveals-in-testimony
Cohen stated that Trump set up a fake buyer to bid on his portrait by the artist William Quigley at the Art Hamptons auction so that it would garner the highest price among all of the works in the sale. As the last lot, the portrait ultimately went for $60,000, and the Trump Foundation then repaid the straw bidder. Cohen also testified that the portrait is now displayed in a country club owned by Trump.
The defunct foundations other questionable spending includes buying another portrait of Trump at a 2014 auction for $10,000 after no bids were placed on the work, and using $20,000 in charity funds to buy a painting of a firefighter from an auction at Mar-a-Lago in 2007.
Ha on emulating someone like Elvis with his hair. So many things now that you think about in retrospect should have been serious red flags huh.

(58,785 posts)the hazards of social media at bedtime. How amazing to donate a portrait of yourself. Maybe just to have it shown.
It's going to be a pretty day, which means yard work put off while I snuggled inside. A neighbor's little flock of chickens is very cute but also very hard on the plantings.

(312 posts)Would love to see a pic of the neighbors chicks!
As collateral, heres my furry family. Would NOT trust either around any birds unfortunately, all theyd do is make a mess

(58,785 posts)There are cats around, feral and domestic, but they don't seem to take on the chickens. You remind me that I haven't gotten a decent pic of them yet (sorry) and should try harder. They're all as full of themselves as your cats no doubt are, but the personality of one like this (but "ours" prefers her hat with the feathers curled) is even more standout than her very absurd looks. She's taken a fancy to my husband and his workshop and doesn't take no for an answer.
