Most people here will just ignore them but they will completely clog up the freeways. It's a bunch of trucks.

(151,269 posts)So is the cost of having someone come and bring those tires to the truck and mount them.
Most of the trucks involved in these "protests" are driver-owned. Most driver/owners could not afford several punctured tires. I recommend that the authorities use spike strips.

(11,704 posts)No way is this "grassroots". It's funded just like the teabaggers were funded. I wouldn't be surprised at all to find one of more of the Koch entities is contributing.

(12,904 posts)According to this schedule, they wont affect Kansas Citys rush hour traffic too much, but those folks trying to home in St. Louis are gonna be pretty ticked off! And I-70 is loaded with real truck drivers
wonder how theyll like this activity clogging up their work space?
Seems like theyre expecting to slow roll for lots of donations. I hope theyre not disappointed in the take.

I don't think they'll be getting the warm welcome they're stupidly expecting, not from all the workers and drivers who need to get their own shit done.

(32,321 posts)I worked in Canada a lot and the people there are a lot more laid back than here in the US. Clogging up the highways is not going to go over well here. let them cut their own throats.

(20,005 posts)It is kind if funny.
Someone acting weird in Walmart? People just silently move away and go on about their shopping.
Big confederate flag on the back of a truck. People look up and then just get out of the line of fire and ignore the whole thing. It's no fun if you get no reaction.
Freeway being blocked up. People will just go for coffee and donuts to wait it out.

(22,951 posts)I-70 sarcasm aside, I don't think the truckers are going to have the support they think they do; they certainly won't gain any with these antics.

(11,704 posts)I travel I-70 a lot. In MO, there is so much truck traffic, and so many of them have speed-limiters installed by their companies. It's a pain in the ass all the time, getting stuck behind one truck with a 64 mph governor passing one with a 63 mph governor. Then there are the trucks which don't have enough hp to maintain a steady speed up the hills.
I already consider I-70 to be "clogged". It won't take many of the assholes to turn it into a literal parking lot.

(11,704 posts)I gotta be out in western KS the 1st & 2nd, I hope they don't start early. But if they do, I guess I'll just have to bypass I-70 by taking old 40 to Junction City, then 24 from Manhattan to KC.
I actually don't see how they can keep that schedule. It's 6 1/2 to 7 hours driving time from Salina to St Louis at normal speeds. There will be a bottleneck in Topeka to get on the turnpike. Since they're out-of-staters, they won't have the electronic pass and will have to stop at the booth for tickets and again to pay right before KC. Those lines are already long because the turnpike stopped hiring people to man the booths to "encourage" use of the electronic things.
Then, once they get into Missouri, I-70 is pretty clogged and slow anyway with normal traffic and truckers actually doing their job.
leftyladyfrommo
(20,005 posts)slow thru there anyway.
I wonder if the trucks have big signs so they don't just look like regular truck traffic.?
I will be watching. It's something different.

People here, blue people in a red state Don get very excited unless it's the Royals or Chiefs .
That's the way we all get along. No one wants trouble so we just let stuff blow on out.
