(43,850 posts)Theyre not going to disrupt anything except traffic along the way. I hope people are brave enough to disrupt them all along the way, but I know thats easy for me to say.

a convoy: zero.
Also, have you ever met someone who got pushed off the road by a hostile trucker? I have. She was on the passenger side gripping the window frame when the car rolled. She lost a lot of her right hand.

(7,273 posts)between an 18-wheeler and the car in the next lane when the truck driver decided I was in the way. No signal, no notice of any kind, just started pulling into my lane. TG the car on my other side saw what was happening and sped up so that I could pull in behind him. I'm scared to death of trucks and give them wide berth.

Be interesting to see how they make it through the bad weather that's starting next week.
Selfish little brats.

(26,152 posts)to solely disrupt and cause nothing but trouble and interfere w/ my rights too as an American citizen.
And by the way, I do want to know the state of the union, and with your ridiculous truck convoys who have ignored pleas to stop w/ the honking etc., that is, peaceful demonstration (no horns) seems to be out of the picture with these over-the-top protesters, who seem to be making up reasons as we go.
And what the hell are they protesting for anyways? The mask edicts are slowly going away, COVID vaccines are still being administered, but seem to be trailing off (but I suspect that this will migrate to an annual tradition).
If anything, the blaring of hundreds and perhaps thousands of truck horns is definitely disturbing the peace and infringing on rights of citizens to listen to what's being reported on (a component of the freedom of speech). I don't recall pulling in front of a truck recently, and then slowing down. I don't recall carrying a sign protesting the slow delivery of some groceries that I was waiting for, at my grocery store, I accepted it. And remember, all of us have gone through the COVID 19 journey together, not just you, so if you want to whine, go elsewhere. Don't screw around w my life because you have issues and can't obviously handle them.

(26,485 posts)Wasn't that part of the problem of why stores weren't stocked with supplies and ships were waiting to be unloaded in ports.
And now all of a sudden - we're going to have trucks and drivers forming a convoy and crossing this country?
They have time and energy to protest (whatever they're protesting) - but they can't do their jobs and get needed product to the stores.
They're not doing their job to help our economy.
This is what should be communicated to the American People.

(15,212 posts)Maybe they'll.be able to get out of California if they start around Barstow (when the drugs kick in) or Needles. But if they try to start "a Convoy" anywhere west of the Cajon grade, they'd be stuck in a traffic jam they caused for days just trying to get past the weight station in Riverside.
That is if they have more than 10 privately owned trucks and a few dozen pickups. I-20 and I-40 have enough congestion on normal days year-round.
Anyway, CHP will shut that shit down because 1) it's f'n dangerous to drive the passes with basically an empty 18 wheeler, especially when there a high probability of Santana winds, and 2) MAGA idiots can be expected to drive unsafe and be pulled over as soon as they start hazarding the multitude of other drivers who are on the freeway minding their own business.
Road rage is a serious problem here. Driving through LA and Riverside County isn't like driving on the 40 east of Flagstaff. It's more like driving the Beltway loop.

(7,864 posts)They're taking the central route! They're going to have winter weather as soon as they get to Utah, and it's going to be horrible crossing the Rockies with all those empty big rigs. I lived in Indianapolis for a winter and it was co-o-old. At that time of year, even I-40 wouldn't be easy.
Not that I want them warned or anything.

(17,757 posts)It is called the D-8 Caterpillar tractor. Just push it to the curb...I think that a small fleet of these common pieces of construction equipment would be just the trick. Let the trucker work out the damage with his insurance company. They will push 80,000 pounds around like it was a pull toy.

(7,334 posts)If so they will be going through Garrett County, MD which has the absolute worst weather on the East Coast, and over a mountain pass near Frostburg, MD that has thick pea soup killer fog very often this time of year.
To Make DC at noon they will be driving it at the worst time of the morning. There is also a major Weigh Station on top of that pass - it will be busy to say the least.
Then they'll drive down I-270 from Frederick, MD during the morning ... BWAAAAHAAAAHAAAAHAA
And this leader wants to be Gov of Maryland????

(34,755 posts)They haven't been for decades. Not since the Oklahoma City bombing or 9/11. These assholes might disrupt the Beltway, but they're not going to get anywhere near the Capitol, or any other federal facility, in order to disrupt the SOTU address.
