"But, --- NOTHING!"

"Yes, of course, climate change is real and is even worse than predicted and there are steps we could take to combat it, BUT---"

"Our nation, the wealthiest in the history of the world, has more than enough money to provide decent food, shelter, education and medical care to all of its citizens, BUT---"

"Obviously, permitting billionaires and mega-corporations to pay less in taxes than teachers, firemen, farmers, secretaries and grill cooks is obscene, BUT---"

"Attempts to disregard the voices of the people and overturn an election are a form of domestic terrorism and should be aggressively and swiftly prosecuted as the equivalent of treason, BUT,---"

There is more disgust and angst following each of those "BUT"s than I could possibly describe, so I did not try. Read the three dashes (---) as you believe appropriate.

Problem Selling:

Problem-solvers take an issue and break it down into small solvable chunks. Problem-sellers (e.g. politicians, the press) do the opposite: bundling many small issues into one big problem that looks insurmountable and terrifying.

I saw some hedge fund guy on PBS earlier today, hawking his book that he sees "a pattern" in our woes, like it's just something that can't be helped, only mitigated by .. hmm, lemme guess - more hedge-funding, right?

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
