Like you said, moondust, they have a closed system for their news, similar to the right-wing propaganda system in the U.S. But they don't have an MSNBC or CNN to turn to.

Putin's telling the Russian people that there are mass graves in Ukraine where Russian citizens have been exterminated. Beyond ethnic cleansing, they say that Ukraine is shelling Russian villages close to the border, killing more Russians.

Right now in Russia, the people believe Putin has the patience of Job to keep from invading Ukraine and wiping them out. Soon the Russian people will be begging Putin to invade Ukraine ASAP.

Truth is the first casualty in the lead up to war.
