The Capitol Police briefed staff on the House Administration and Senate Rules Committees about a potential trucker protest in Washington, D.C., Politico reports.
Metropolitan Police Department officers were told they would not be able to take time off between Feb. 22 and March 5 as local authorities geared up for a potential protest convoy.

Coincidentally the trucks have mostly gone from Wellington Street where Parliament. That was fast.

(86,048 posts)That traffic can be controlled without too much trouble. Of those who try to go the whole cross country route maybe 5% of them will get there. Lots of obstacles to navigate along the way.
We have the Civil Defense (Law, Act, ?) that under national emergency, all commercial trucks come under the command of the federal government should the appropriate agencies deem it necessary. So there's that for one problem the truckers face.

(54,050 posts)I hope there is an army of towing vehicles at the ready, and armed cops ready to shoot if shot at first.
Give them a taste of the old South, where the slightest moving violation by an out-of-state vehicle resulted in all cash being forfeited, or the vehicle impounded for a month, only to be bailed out by even more cash.
