Commonsense, kindness, justice and morality.

Some religions promote some of the kind parts of their mythology but mostly they stand in the way of both moral and scientific advancements.

"American theoretical physicist and Nobel laureate, Steven Weinberg once famously said, "With or without religion, good people can behave well and bad people can do evil; but for good people to do evil - that takes religion."

What if/when a physicist explains how the universe came into being, can you imagine the screams coming from religious communities. That person will be considered a heretic, even a satanist by many religious ppl, especially those RWingers like Southern Baptists.

show The Walking Dead would they get the vaccine? They can’t answer. Truth, facts are all fungible to Republicans and they are twisted to meet their bizarre beliefs. They are lost forever, I fear.

20. Many are long time friends and family so we know to stay away from politics. We do have meme wars

which I enjoy making them look foolish. That’s how they get they get their news from memes. In fact, I am currently at a party for my nephew who turned 40 and many of his friends who I have known since they were kids are here. One started talking about how the gun situation got really bad under Obama. So he is talking about Dems taking guns away and how he needs guns for protection. I’m like who exactly are you afraid of and who is coming to take your guns away? He asks me what happens if someone with a gun attempts to car jack you? I said i would give them the keys and step back. I’m like what are you going to do if someone points a gun at you and demands your keys? Are you going to whip out your 357 magnum and have a shoot out over a car. Come on trained cops have a fairly low accuracy rate when in gun fights.and I said what exactly have Dems done since Obama to take away your guns? Other people who I know are Trumpers but aren’t my friends I won’t even acknowledge their existence.

12. No it's not

My truth is my spouse of 37 years is dead. I never wanted that.

My truth is I'm stuck at home avoiding a pandemic. I never wanted that.

My truth is my dog poked me in the eye with her claw. I never wanted that. (Yes my eye healed just fine.)

There is a lot of truth out there that is never wanted or appreciated. There's more going on inside the heads of anti-vaxxers then just wishful thinking.

It's more like a religion they are willing to die for.

One side would listen to scientists and support governments who are guided by their knowledge.

But the other side is frustratingly divided into many camps that compete for attention. Making it difficult to isolate a position to debate.

Yeah, you'd have some saying its all made up by Antifa and Democrats.

But you'd have another set declaring that it may be real, but its not any kind of threat to be worried about, and the government and Big Astrophysics are just trying to control us. Don't Look Up!

And you'd have a tangent of those ones who will say the solution proposed, shoot it down etc... is WAY worse than just allowing the asteroid to just land and then we deal with whatever happens after. Its a natural occurrence. Like global warming. God will protect those he loves.

You'd have another set saying it IS a threat, and that its a secret (Democratic) government plot to kill those they don't want. ie.. targeting the Red States and middle America. Probably guided by Jewish Laser Space Ships.
