Make no mistake about it, this is meme bashing progressives or moderates in the Democratic party. This is about the subtle self-sabotaging that some on the political left often engage in. Take the latest Real Time episode. A long time ago I learned to disregard Bill Mahers masquerade as a reasonable liberal minded libertarian. However, he has gotten so bad lately, he is unwatchable. If you had seen him and Katrina Vanden Heuvel parrot wingnut talking points about how Russia has a point and why do we need NATO now anyway, and so what if Russia takes Ukraine like Crimea, youd be like John Avlon who was the other panelist and practically apoplectic trying to get a word in edgewise about how devastating it would be to let Russia get away with this aggression. You would have thought that you were watching FoxNews. There is a segment of so-called liberal celebrities who are the Nader voters, who constantly complain about how slow progress is, love to jump on the bandwagon of criticism of the Democrats in charge of Congress or the executive branch, are done with COVID even when COVID is not done with them, and love to use what aboutisms as much as the GOP. They are determined to prove their liberal bonafides by insisting that there are two sides to every issue, when clearly there are not in some cases.
Anyway, Im starting a watch list of them. Aside from the two above, here are more:
Joe Lieberman, Nina Turner, Tulsi Gabbard, Van Jones, Susan Sarandon, Harold Ford Jr, Bob Beckle, Juan Williams
Any other suggestions?

(46,045 posts)"Slowly I turned...step by step..." You probably have to be old to get that reference.
You might add Michael Moore to that list, but the last time I saw him he was in love with Joe Biden, so he may have grown up.
I used to listen to Santita Jackson's radio program until I figured out many of her guests are the sort of person you describe. The last time Nina Turner was on. When another guest proclaimed "We MUST primary Jo Biden," I turned it off and never listened again.
I stopped watching Maher when he explained that Tailhook was "boys being boys." I heard later that he explained "Maybe women just aren't good at science and math."
BTW, Bernie Sanders makes noise, but when push comes to shove, he does the right thing, so I wouldn't add him to your list.

(172 posts)Wasn't this a Abbott and Costello or another comedy team routine? And as I recall, wasn't the trigger "Niagara Falls"?

(2,126 posts)It was Niagara Falls. It was Abbott and Costello. But I once saw another team do it. I think the Stooges.

(182,803 posts)She personally made a drastic turn in her public appearances on news shows.
I never cared for her much anyway it she has run The Nation into the group but then it may still exist because of Russian money.

(29,322 posts)I follow Nina Turner and all she does is Tweet about policy positions and it is the usual. Support for BBB, combating climate change, universal health care, abolishing the filibuster etc She doesnt complain about Covid or masks. Im not supporting her this time after her opponent cosponsored Medicare for All.
I know what she said about Biden but she is just like any other Democrat these days.
Bill Maher is mostly a right winger who often bashed the Democrats with Republican talking points. Im not sure what he has anything to do with those people which is why I suggested Krysten Sinema who campaigned for Ralph Nader.
One odd thing about Sinema that I dont understand is people supported Nader because they felt Clinton/Gore were too conservative now Sinema is to the right of Al Gore.

(47,430 posts)I can't believe he has gotten even worse. I really wonder how much longer he will have a show on HBO. I think he's having trouble getting really good guests on his show these days. He's turned into a cantankerous old man. The pandemic brought out the absolute worst in him.
