The point wasn't the installation of Trump, or Brexit, or any of the other mischief.

The point was to generally weaken the ability of the usual allies to respond effectively to an invasion and annexation of Ukraine.

It is precisely because Trump has been thrown away like a used rag that the invasion is probably to proceed. Trump is no longer of any use and Putin couldn't give two shits what happens to him.
