Looks like Putin's going full rogue. As in Kim Jong Un rogue.

Besides recognizing the proxy republics in Eastern Ukraine, he launched into a long screed about the breakup of the USSR, praising Lenin, praising Stalin(!), delegitimizing the very notion of Ukraine as a sovereign nation.

This might even have implications for the Baltic States, which actually are NATO countries as well as former Soviet republics.

He's said all these things in bits and snippets for years. But he's never, ever been this explicit about it.

#Putin making his admiration & nostalgia for the #Soviet empire palpably clear right now.

- “Do you [#Ukraine] want decommunization? Well, we're ready to show you what decommunization really is."

Huge, historic & deeply dangerous moment for #Europe & global security.

Could Russia be expelled from its permanent position on the Security Council?

Don't think that it would happen even now, because I don't think China would stand for it and would move to veto.

But could they in theory?

He shouldn't even be allowed in the building.

He doesn't care. He'd probably be happy if the UN failed, too. UN and NATO, gone.

Decommunization is the process of dismantling the legacies of communist state establishments, culture, and psychology in the post-communist countries.

Not the military or the worker bees in government, including military and civilian intelligence.
The people out in the fields trying to eke out a living. They get nothing. They just get to bask in the glorious, glowing aura of President for Life Vladimir Putin.

If the unglued Putin we witnessed is the result of him slowly being stealthily poisoned by a toxin that makes him appear or actually go bananas. Saving the Motherland (or is it Fatherland?) Russia, some conspirators rid the country of Mr. Pee.
