I got my first Vaccination on January 16 and my second vaccination on Feb 13. On Sept 2, I had an antibody test as part of a study by the University of Texas that showed that my antibody level was 79.4 on a 2500 scale. I got another Moderna vaccination on Sept 7 and on Nov 27 my antibody level was in excess of 2500. I had another antibody test on Feb 19 and my antibody level is still in excess of 2500. My son was pushing me to get another booster at six months but it appears that my antibody level is stable despite having to take 10 days of steroids due to COPD
I believe that the studies cited in this article are accurate https://politicalwire.com/2022/02/21/another-booster-shot-may-not-be-needed-for-a-long-time/
Three doses of a Covid vaccine or even just two are enough to protect most people from serious illness and death for a long time, the studies suggest.
Although people over 65 or at high risk of illness may benefit from a fourth vaccine dose, it may be unnecessary for most people.
I am over 65 and have some risk factors but based on this test, I will wait for my next booster

(145,046 posts)The UT study is ending this month and so I am going to have to figure out how to get another antibody test. I am going to ask my doctor to add an antibody draw for the June blood draw and see what happens

(22,093 posts)shots total, the original two as some of us got (Pfizer), the one booster shot (over 65 years in age)).
What would happen if the fourth shot was given? Will it harm us? That's my main question. The additional antibodies would be okay w/ me, but I have no medical experience, that is, will the additional antibodies from a fourth shot cause issues w/ the first original 3 shots in my body?
I see from above, that antibodies level remains pretty well the same, over time. They don't say if a fourth shot would interfere w/ the existing antibodies, etc. (that is, they're studying the life span of the original 3 shorts).
