Rand Paul: Unlike Democrats, Republicans will take high road with Supreme Court pick

Soon President Biden will have the privilege of nominating someone to the Supreme Court, a privilege Presidents often do not have the opportunity to partake in as Supreme Court Justices hold lifetime appointments.

The appointment to the highest court in the land is a great responsibility. This person is expected to uphold our nation’s Constitution, safeguarding the rights and liberties enshrined by our Founding Fathers for millions of Americans.

Once Biden makes his pick, the U.S. Senate will begin the process of taking up the nomination, which involves meetings and hearings, eventually leading to a floor vote to confirm the justice.

While many – mostly the mainstream media – will speculate on who Biden will nominate, I maintain the position that we must begin this process with an open mind, treating the nominee, whoever they are, with respect through the entire process.

Then Senator Schumer should fast track the confirmation. The President's pick should be confirmed before the mid-term elections. If Democrats lose the Senate majority, President Biden's nominee will never be confirmed.

McConnell and the Republicans have shown us over and over that they are unprincipled, un-democratic and power hungry.

They made up a rule then immediately broke it and he went along because he has zero morals.

Nobody that votes for you, obviously, but the rest of us have a very clear memory of the road that Republicans have traveled during that time. It wasn't high.

They'll take the same "highroad" they took when Justice Ginsberg died.
Which is to say the lowest road they can find.

Not one of Trump's appointments to the court met Senator Paul's stated requirement:

"This person is expected to uphold our nation’s Constitution, safeguarding the rights and liberties enshrined by our Founding Fathers for millions of Americans."

Oh, wait a minute, he said for millions of Americans, not all Americans. Well, he left himself an out to fuck over the vast majority of Americans while safeguarding the rights of millions of Americans.

What a dildo!
