Just realized, something 'else' about Ukraine:

In 1905, Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman living in the Ukrainian village of Anatevka, a typical shtetl in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia, compares the lives of the Jews of Anatevka to a fiddler on the roof.

“Fiddler on the Roof” is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem .

Such a rich, beautiful culture.

Music, dress, religion, history, language, art, family.
It is such a tightly knit society.

In the recent olympics one of the skaters wore a typical Ukrainian outfit.
Green velvet skirt, lovely embroidered blouse. Ukrainian music.

Russia, ending up in New Jersey, and later relocated to South Carolina.

Because I’m a complete and total idiot (was also in my late 20’s/early 30’s, I plead ignorance…lots and lots of it), I never sat her down and had her tell me about her life, start to finish…what a missed opportunity, arrghhh—

Anyway, all this to say that Manny and his family went to the movie theater to see “Fiddler on the Roof”, and Ada, his mama, said it was just a magnificent portrayal of life in their shtetl, a perfect rendition of her days as a young woman.

You can’t BUY a better review than that!!

RIP Ada 🕯

Saving this 'forever.' Will surely remember it!

(And of course cry AGAIN, the next time I see it.)

Founded by a Trumper rabbi, whose honorary mayor is one Rudy Giuliani, and which was used by Furman and Parnas to hustle donations which didn't go to Anatevka. Good article on BuzzFeed.
