In 1905, Tevye, a poor Jewish milkman living in the Ukrainian village of Anatevka, a typical shtetl in the Pale of Settlement of Imperial Russia, compares the lives of the Jews of Anatevka to a fiddler on the roof.
Fiddler on the Roof is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye the Dairyman) and other tales by Sholem Aleichem .

Music, dress, religion, history, language, art, family.
It is such a tightly knit society.
In the recent olympics one of the skaters wore a typical Ukrainian outfit.
Green velvet skirt, lovely embroidered blouse. Ukrainian music.

Because Im a complete and total idiot (was also in my late 20s/early 30s, I plead ignorance
lots and lots of it), I never sat her down and had her tell me about her life, start to finish
what a missed opportunity, arrghhh
Anyway, all this to say that Manny and his family went to the movie theater to see Fiddler on the Roof, and Ada, his mama, said it was just a magnificent portrayal of life in their shtetl, a perfect rendition of her days as a young woman.
You cant BUY a better review than that!!
RIP Ada 🕯
Saving this 'forever.' Will surely remember it!
(And of course cry AGAIN, the next time I see it.)
