So, I got a new battery for my iphone6s. Yes an old phone and I do not need more.

My phone wasn't holding much of a charge and was juicing out quickly and since giving my new battery I did make it to 50% by the end of my day, work shift where I talked on the phone, did some text and looked at FB. But still it seemed to me when I first got the phone it lasted longer. Significantly longer. Why does it not feel like me paying for a new battery gave me all that or is this just a norm.

Even with the new battery, the iOS and all your apps have changed so much and consumes so much more to exist, it will never feel as spry as it did when your phone was new some 7 years ago.

Just think about how many new features have been added since then to everything on your phone. All of those require some form of resources to exist, which in turn take battery power to create.

I'm so happy I was of some small help. Also, you're not stupid when it comes to tech stuff, it's evolving so quickly it's difficult to stay abreast anymore.

instance of being screwed. It seems like it is never ending. I now have to deal with my relatively new Camry getting condensation inside the car. It is all exhausting.

Or, is it a generic?

My battery is doing ok, but thinking there's a replacement in the future.

I think it has its own specific battery. For this phone anyway I was told have to get it done, not so easy to replace for self. Total cost was 70

I haven’t felt the need to upgrade and honestly did not like my wife’s without the button.

Funny story with the battery, when mine began losing charge, I went to the local Verizon store to ask if they sold batteries. The salesman looked at me like I had two heads and said getting a new battery was useless, my phone was dead and I needed to update.

I then went to Batteries plus, asked if they sold batteries, they said yes, put it in, and it’s held a charge fine ever since. That was two years ago.

Eventually I will have to upgrade but a phone to me isn’t something that I insist to have the latest model of. I’m not a Luddite but I’m just not someone who gets excited about the newest model of phones. A phone is a phone is a phone and I’ll update when I’m ready.

I had a cellphone back in the 90s right after they became small enough to fit in a pocket. Got a Nokia that i got the company to pay for.
I'm not allergic to the tech, and my 3+ year old Android suits me fine.
It would be older, except i needed to get my own phone when i retired. I had to give the company phone back on my last day.

Because I was afraid of no security since it didn't do updates anymore.

Too many hackers and scams out there and my husband isn't techie at all. He hates the phone because its to complicated for him. Iphone should make a pared down easy phone for older people that want apple.

super quality for a fraction of the cost

plus it will get even cheaper as soon as its successor , the iPhone SE 3 (might be called the SE 2022) launches (only downside is no 5G, but that is not needed for a basic phone, and IF it is, just wait for the SE 3 2022, which will very likely have it)

for Android, I would suggest one of the lower end Samsung Galaxy series (the flagship Galaxy S's are expensive overkill for a basic phone)

Samsung Galaxy A12 (super phone for only 150-175 usd or so)

access vital things (like BankID all banking info, medical info, government websites, most e-commerce, etc).

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BankID

Bank-id (trademark BankID) is by far the largest electronic identification system in Sweden, with a usage rate of 94% among smartphone users, and is administered by Finansiell ID-Teknik BID AB that is owned by several Swedish and Scandinavian banks. In March 2018 Bank-id had about 6.5 million active users and was supported by 600 web services (my add- this is MUCH higher now). Only individuals with a Swedish personal identity number can acquire Bank-id.

BankID, since last year, is no longer supported on desktop/laptop by some banks (ours is one of those), only on mobile app (Mobilt bank-id).

Around 96 to 97% of Sweden's population (16+ years), internet users, and smart mobile users now have BankID. Older and disabled people have legal proxies that use it for them. It is extremely secure (vastly more secure than most all of my US-based web accounts), and each device needs a separate, discrete, verified app installed.
