8. Vandals are ruining so many places.

I know three people in my neighborhood who have had their vehicles burned by arsonists. A travel trailer parked off the street and behind a fence was torched last week across the street from my home.

Our local tire store has stacks of perfectly good tires destroyed by cuts made by vandals in random acts.

It is hard to navigate the local freeway because graffiti has defaced so many of the signs. Our state highway department has recently budgeted $2 Million to repair and replace signs. I can certainly think of better uses for the public dollars.

And finally, a fifteen year-old kid using fireworks on a tinder-dry September day sparked a fire that destroyed the forest on the Oregon side of the Columbia River Gorge....Described as the most beautiful 40 mile drive in the country. The young man lost a $27 Million judgement for damages.

I don't understand the mindset. As with so many societal ills, I am frustrated with these destructive behaviors.
