Be careful of the narrative floating around that the people of Ukraine wouldn't mind going back to Russia. When the Soviet Union crumbled, Ukraine voted over 90% to become an independent democratic country. The people held parties in the streets to celebrate.
It did take Ukraine a while to rid itself of pro-Russian leaders and I guess that was the straw that broke Putin's back.
Trump sure tried hard to keep Putin's pals in power in Ukraine.
Hoping Germany standing up and canceling Nordstream 2 will prevent an all out invasion.

(38,941 posts)in the US? We are being warned of higher gas prices and more inflation. It will be like 1980 all over again when we got Reagan. Could we be doing exactly what Putin wants? What if he gets Trump or another Russian agent back in office?

I'm not optimistic that Americans will rally around a country they can't find on a map.

(38,941 posts)some of us couldn't point out Canada on a map let alone Ukraine. The Republicans are going to stir up unrest here and elsewhere lke they did in Canada for practice.
