Watched the first two episodes this weekend.
Adam Scott of "Parks & Recreation," John Turturro of many projects including "Miller's Crossing," and Patricia Arquette also of a ton of projects like "Lost Highway" and "Boyhood" lead a small ensemble cast directed by Ben Stiller.
This dystopian work / life thriller plays like an extended Black Mirror episode.
The work setting feels very 1970s early 1980s. Huge monitors, black and white screens, retro modern furnishings, and yet while on the outside, the "outies" have cell phones and microwaves, so it is not set in the 1970s.
They work for the mysterious Lumon Corporation who uses technology to sever people's minds so that they have no recollection of their personal life while at work and conversely have no idea what work they do when they are at home.
Anyone else watched it?
Thoughts?
I found it well done. A bit quirky, but appealingly so. Also very dark and raises a ton of questions about our present work/life balance.
I will be interested to see where this thing goes.

(60,013 posts)we are already paying for some other services the huge fragmentation of entertainment to bleed us dry pisses me off. So I will wait until....whenever.
Right now, we are Hulu, Prime and Netflix. Over Roku. That's quite enough at the moment, but this or that comes out on another provider and we know we are missing some good stuff. Oh well...

I have enjoyed Ted Lasso and The After Party on Apple TV, though.

(12,286 posts)I expected to hate it and was pleased to be wrong.
It is a great show.
The constant upbeat positivity reminded me of Leslie Knope from Parks and Rec. The whole tone of the show makes me feel like a better human being and wanting to BE a better human after having watched it.
