I was thinking about this, while looking over all the free stuff I have on my smart TV.
All sorts of old shows, new ones, music channels, movie channels, etc.
And this is all the free stuff!
I get regular offers from pay-streaming channels like Disney Plus, and such.
So are we being OVER-entertained?
I do get out at times, particularly when the weather is better.
But like now, when the weather is crappy, I spend a lot of time just indoors, watching a show or movie, or listening to music.

(66,300 posts)That's my concern. When I get home from a long day in clinic, I like to relax with a show or two. Helps me unwind and makes me glad I'm not at work.
If there's ever a time when I'm not overworked, I'll worry then about whether I'm over-entertained.

(46,301 posts)We pick out good things to watch or listen to.
It's the "Work and then veg out in front of the TV" I wonder about.
I have a cousin like that.
Always had on some TV show or movie when I visited.

(53,965 posts)It's supply and demand driving this explosion. You think you're the Demand, as the audience. But in reality, you're the SUPPLY and the advertisers are the Demand. Advertisers are the consumer, you're the wheat, and the entertainment is the combine. The sooner you're comfortable being commoditized, the happier you'll be with your shrinking significance.
