Pachinko (TV series trailer)

I'm looking forward to this series, which is based on the hit book about a Korean family living in in Japanese-occupied Korea, followed by their post-WWII life as Korean immigrants in Japan.

In case you don't know the history, in 1876, Korea was forced to sign an unequal treaty by Japan. This gave Japan a foothold in the country, eventually turning Korea into a protectorate in 1905, which was recognized as valid by the U.S. under the Taft-Katsura Agreement. Korea officially was made part of Japan's empire from 1910, and a Korean delegation demanding self-determination was rebuffed at the 1919 Paris Peace Conference. Independence did not come until the end of WWII in 1945, but was soon followed by division into North and South and the Korean War.
